Do rest days in between working out actually contribute to your overall workout and fat burning?

It is best to give your muscles time to recuperate because working out puts a lot of strain on them

I agree with bwoods, especially if you're doing weight training. Straining your muscles won't help. But then, I advise you to still do a little bit of exercise each day, perhaps a simple walk along the block is fine. While you're not working out, still watch your diet so that you don't gain unwanted fat.

i really think it depends on your set-up and volume for each of your muscle groups

What does your current set-up look like?

It really depends on the work out program you got from your gym instructor. For me its not advisable to workout everyday because muscles also needs to relax and once you you work it out and has no rest on it it will stress your mucles and it may damge also the cells content of it.

Just for you know rest days are vital to weight lifting because it gets the muslce rested. Even a body building contestant you still have rest days on working out. Your mucles also gets fatigue off exercises and to gain healtier and big muscles follow your gym instructors program and try to rest them or have a alternate workout plan.

I believe that you need to rest the day after you do weight training. Maybe do a little bit of cardio on that rest day instead. Your muscles need to recover and build up and that happens during rest day.
