Yup, I am a cleansing addict.  Ever since doing them, my life has changed for the better.  I no longer get sick, and I attribute it all to cleansing.  In fact, in my opinion, (even though it is a gross subject) colon cleansing is probably one of the healthiest things I have ever done.  Really!

FYI, I personally cleanse about 4 times per year.  Everybody always asks, so there it is.

Dawn... First of all thank you for this blog site. I read everything posted and all of your answers. The only other colon cleanse product I have ever used was a kit by GNC. It was ok. I think I will order the DrFloras Ultimate kit but have few questions. I take several vitamins, herbs, fish oil, and evening primrose. Can I take these along with the colon cleanse?

Okay so I have been on Dr. Flora's for 6 days now and wanted to lend some advice. I suppose the powder mixed in may not taste, but if you have texture issues with your food or drinks as I do this might help... once you take your drink, let it sit in your mouth 5-10 seconds, then swallow and it goes down a lot easier. It seems to me that the grit settles down and doesn't get all over your top of your throat which for me brings on the lovely gag reflex. Hope this helps!

When finished with the DrFloras Ultimate kit, many people have claimed that their bellies look flatter. The reason for this is that you're cleansing out pounds of gunk that may be stuck in there, and like a long plastic sack inside your belly, the more full it is, the more it makes your belly pop out. Getting rid of it all causes the belly to look flatter without dieting.

Please note that this happens AFTER you have finished the cleanse. During the cleanse, you're introducing all of the cleansing agents, and that makes some people feel a little bloated -- but that goes away once you're done with the cleanse.

I have tried another brand, Colonix, cleanser and got so-so results. But they did not state that using SENNA in their herbal tea could cause problems - sore joints etc - and should not be use for more than seven consecutive days ! NOT good !!

There are so many products and DrFloras is so expensive.

I am a retired veteran living on a fixed income, so every dollar is very critical to me.

I am definitely sick. I have all the obvious symptoms of parasites and a "clogged colon".

The DrFloras website says that first time users should use the Bowel Regulator product first if you are constipated, before the cleanse. Could you clarify for me ?

But that makes sense - clear out as much "stuff" before starting the cleanse. DrFloras also states that first time users should cleanse TWICE.

DrFloras is not real clear on the sequence of taking the products - so this is my guess.

1. take the Bowel Regulator for 28 days
2. DrF Colon Cleanse and Cleanse support for 30 days. (the need to buy TWO extra bottles of each).
3. Probiotics
4. Parasite Defense - which should taken last ?

So the cost would be ( I am buying for my wife and myself)

1. two bottles Bowel regulator = $47
2. Two ultimate kits = $296
3. 2 extra bottles of Colon Cleanse = $97 - for a 30 day cleanse
4. 2 extra bottles of Cleanse Support = $67

I certainly realize it seems like a big expense, especially since you're buying everything at once.

If I were you, to save some money, just buy the dual ultimate kit for you and your wife, but skip getting the additional products for a second cleanse. See how the first one works for you. If you and your wife feel drastically better, then you can splurge for the extra bottles.

As for dosing, let me respond:

1) Do NOT use the bowel regulator for 28 days consecutively! There is enough product in there to last you a while, but you should see benefits within a few days at the most, and then you can stop using it and get into the real cleanse. You can save the rest of the bowel regulator product for the future if you ever feel constipated.

2) The Colon Cleanse shakes and the cleanse support capsules are to be taken for 15 days if you do the recommended 3 shakes per day. Many people prefer doing 2 shakes per day (easier to manage) and do it for 22 days.

3) The Probiotics are fantastic little buggies that you should take all the time. I encourage people to stock up on this product and take it on a regular basis. Meredith, yes, you can just take the DrFloras Colon Cleanse product which comes in a powdered formula you mix into drinks. But you're missing out on all the other wonderful products. Using just one is like taking a shower and not washing your hair and your feet -- the shower was better than nothing, but you're not 100% clean.

One idea is to take the capsules and open them and dump the powder into another drink when it comes time to take those, that way you drink the powder within the capsule instead of having to swallow the caps. Good luck.

I would like to clarify two points that were referred to by earlier entries:

1. Dr. Floras' website definitely recommends the bowel regulator prior to starting the colon cleanse for anyone who is irregular, constipated, or not having 1 or more bm's daily. This product is not part of the kit.

2. There may also be some confusion regarding the Cleanse Support product (recommended to be used simultaneously with ANY colon cleanse product as a primer/companion product)and the Pro-biotic(restorative)product(recommended for use either simultaneously during a 30-day or longer colon cleanse or following a 15-day colon cleanse).

Because the site doesn't provide specific instructions on the two latter products, I believe that I would likely use the Bowel Regulator alone as Step 1; then the Colon Cleanse simultaneously with the Cleanse Support product for a total of 15 days as Step 2. As Step 3, I would use the Parasitic removal product for another 15 days alone; then finalize by using the probiotic (restoration) product solo for 30 days as Step 4....unless advised differently after seeking Customer Service Support over the phone. All probiotics are not created equally. There are literally hundreds of different strains that are sold on the market. Most of them cannot survive the highly acidic environment of the stomach, so when you take the capsules, your digestive system can actually kill them before they get to where they need to be. The DrFloras brand of probiotics uses acid resistant strains. Most companies do not use these because they cost a lot more to buy, and most people will never know the difference, unless you run into a site like mine where we talk about it. So if you can find some acid resistant strains at your store, then you can probably use those. Make sure you get at least 10 Billion bacteria per serving.

As for your second questions, studies have shown that a large percentage of people (up to 90%) have parasites and don't even know it. Parasites were not an issue hundreds of years ago. But now, with mass transit, people transmit these vermin at restaurants, work, parks, etc. Did you know that the water faucet handle in a typical restaurant bathroom has more harmful bacteria than the actual toilet seats? Crazy, huh?

Pat and MajorIBS, from what I understand with colonoscopy's, they only cleanse the lower colon for viewing. It does not cleanse your small or large intestines. In fact, some doctors believe that most of the mucoid plaque we see actually comes from the small intestines, and not the colon itself. There is still some debate on this.

With a full body cleanse, you detoxify your whole intestinal tract, kill parasites, their eggs and larvae, and replenish health intestinal flora.

MajorIBS, to answer your question, I think you would definitely benefit from a cleanse, especially since you have IBS. You want to detoxify your whole intestinal tract, not just the colon.

I was visiting DrFloras website because I needed to know what the ingredients were in each of the items contained in the kit. The Colon Cleanser caught my attention because it contains "Grapefruit Pectin" which I am not sure if I can take. I am currently taking Simvastatin,(generic for Zocor used to treat cholesterol) and the prescription bottle advises to not eat or drink grapefruit juice at any time while taking this medication. Does this mean that I should not use the Colon Cleanser because it contains some form of grapefruit? I know that you are not a doctor but I am hoping that you may have an answer for me.

Hello Eva. Wow, a question that has me stumped. I wish I had an answer for you, but I am not quite sure. Being how you are taking a prescribed medication, this really is a question for your doctor. I wouldn't want to take a stab at this and get it wrong. The ingredient does come from grape fruit, but I don't know what part of a grapefruit interacts with your medication. I also saw a question that asked if you thought it was ok to take acai berry while doing the cleanse. What is your thoughts on acai berry?

Kristen, a lot of people suggest cleansing at least a couple times per year. The amount I would recommend varies on a large number of factors like your diet, the quality of water you drink, the pollution where you live, whether you take medications, etc.

Basically, the more non-natural stuff you eat, drink, or breathe, the more likely your body will be contaminated with toxins.

Hi there. Thanks for the great info. Can you tell me if my 16 year old daughter could do such a cleanse. She gets pimple breakouts on her forehead and I know this is caused internally. Just wanted to know if anyone has had teenagers do the cleanse. It would be great to start all our kids on cleanses in the teen years and show them the benefits of healthy insides!!

Lisa, I would check with your personal physician. I personally see no reason why our kids over the age of 16 couldn't get the same benefits, especially with all the crap they eat and drink these days.

If it were my kid, I would adjust the dosage down to compensate for body size. Maybe just one serving per day, and not three? Again, check with your doc before you do this.
